The University of Guyana Guild of Graduates, Ontario

As part of the Calendar of Events to celebrate the 44th Anniversary of Guyana’s Independence, the University of Guyana Guild of Graduates, Ontario (UGGGO) will be hosting a talk and video presentation on “The Life and Cultural Practices of the Amerindian People of Guyana” by Lal Balkarran, together with an exhibition of books by Guyanese writers in Toronto.

This event will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010, from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Malvern Library, 30 Sewells Road, Toronto, ON, M1B 3G5.

Mr. Balkaran is the author of several books including An Encyclopaedia of the Guyanese Amerindians, A Photographic Journey and Photographic Scenes of Amerindian Life, and A Photo-journal of the Guyanese Amerindians . He has lived and worked among the Amerindians of Guyana and brings first-hand knowledge to the topic.
