Classique Dance Company joins the Jamzone NYC cast!

Highly acclaimed dance group, Classique Dance Company, has been confirmed to perform at the Jamzone Summer Break 2014, New York Edition!
The Classique Dance Company is known to be one of Guyana’s most successful and well known contemporary dance companies, founded in 2000 by dancer and choreographer Mr. Clive Prowell. The company’s mission has since been to empower young people through dance and creative collaboration in the performing arts, building self esteem and inspiring self-expressive community action. The company has traveled throughout Guyana. Their repertoire of major events also includes CARIFESTA 10 of which the company was selected to lead the opening ceremony and represent as the CARIFESTA logo.

The Company also performed for the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) held at the National Cultural Center on the 25th of November, 2010. Details of their major performances include performances at the Guyana Folk Festival 2010-2012 held in Brooklyn, NYC of which 8 out of 16 of the company members participated and in the year 2012, the Classique dance company was awarded best dance production/dance Company in the Caribbean at the West Indian Music Award Ceremony. On the other hand, Classique usually hosts three shows per year at the National Cultural Center to show the company’s growth which is divided in three quarters throughout the year.

The Company has built a loyal audience base and has received accolades for its kinetic, high-energy performances, technical acuity, and generous personality. Since its inception, the Classique dance company has received international acclaim from audiences throughout South America, the Caribbean and the United States.

This group will perform live at The Village, Brooklyn, New York City on August 09, 2014 when Jamzone Summer Break is hosted.

Explosive Ragga Soca artist Bunji Garlin and the Vikings Band will perform live at the Jamzone Summer Break 2014 concert come August 23 in Guyana!
Garlin, whose real name is Ian Alvarez, is one of several artists who have been booked to perform at this year’s concert which has been known to attract thousands.

With hits like ‘By D Bar’, ‘Jump Up’, ‘Plenty Gal, ‘Tun Up’ and more recently songs that have been sending shockwaves throughout the Caribbean and other parts of the world ‘Red Light District’, ‘Carnival Tabanca’, ‘Truck on the Road and ‘Differentology’, Garlin is sure to rock the venue!

Known to be one of the Caribbean’s most adroit lyricists, Garlin is considered to be an unstoppable performer as this quality is paired with his astounding vocal flair leaving fans mesmerized long after he leaves the stage.
Bunji is one of the few artistes that have successfully bridged the generation gap as well as broken through the social strata, creating songs that explore and address a wide spectrum of issues including crime, discrimination, prejudice, poverty, sexual deviation and political pandering. Of course Bunji also explores the lighter side of living through his songs created just for dancing and romancing the ladies.

Bunji has won Trinidad’s Soca Monarch/International Soca Monarch) competition on several occasions; in 2002 with “Down in the Ghetto”, 2004 with “Warrior Cry”, 2005 with “Blaze the Fire” and 2008 with “Fiery”. He also placed second in the International Soca Monarch 2009 with “Clear De Road”, while his pregnant wife Fay Ann Lyons came in at first place with “Meet Super Blue”.

He has been gaining major recognition on the international scene after the release of his 2013 hit ‘Differentology’ which won a 2013 Soul Train Award for Best International Performance, defeating tracks be Eminem and DJ Khaled in New York hip-hop station Hot 97’s Battle of the Beats, was featured in an episode of ABC’s Grey’s anatomy, and earned Garlin an enviable slot on Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam’s main stage alongside artists like 50 Cent, The Roots and Nas. Garlin and his wife also recently appeared and performed on BET’s 106 & Park.
Garlin’s ability to captivate his audience with heart-throbbing, flag-waving and nonstop-gyrating tunes makes him a sure pick for the Jamzone Summer Break 2014 Concert!

Creating quite a buzz with his 2014 release ‘Behaving the Worst’, Skinny Fabulous is the most recent artist to be added to the Jamzone N.Y.C. edition lineup! Already, set to perform at the much anticipated event is Mavado, Timeka Marshall and x2.

Gamal Doyle, better known by his stage name Skinny Fabulous, is the unquestionably talented soca artist from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This versatile artist demonstrates his passion for his work with his quick wit and the capacity to mesmerize the crowd when on stage. Skinny Fabulous is always willing to push the boundaries of Caribbean music with energetic performances and with his own twist to the art; his style may sometimes be considered soca-dancehall, two genres that are sure to invigorate any crowd!
Skinny Fabulous is both a singer and songwriter but it was in 2008 that he made a major impression on the soca arena with the release of “Head Bad’ for Vincy Mas of that year. With that release, the St. Vincent Soca Monarch was named and Skinny Fabulous’ career skyrocketed since. He later collaborated with some of the top soca artists such as Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Peter Ram, Kevin Lyttle, etc.

Among some of the songs Skinny Fabulous is highly recognized for are ‘De Beast Leh Go’, ‘Summer Body’, ‘Badder than Everybody’ and ‘Fetting On’.

Guyanese songstress Timeka Marshall will be performing live when Hits and Jams Entertainment takes Guyana’s greatest event to New York City!
Jamzone NYC, which is slated for August 09, 2014 at The Village, Ralph Avenue, Brooklyn, is promised to be nothing less than adrenaline-charged and plans have definitely kick-started in this direction with the first booking of Mavado and now Timeka!

This talented young woman launched a music career in 2005 when she emerged as the winner of the first GT&T Jingle and Song Competition. She has since rose to stardom and is currently working diligently to improve her craft while residing in ‘Dancehall-Reggae Nation’ Jamaica. Her most recent singles are ‘Come Over’, ‘Take it Easy’ and ‘Undercover Lady’

More acts are yet to be added to the Jamzone NYC lineup.

As excitement spread after the announcement of the hosting of Jamzone in New York City, promoters have started unraveling details about the event beginning with the announcement that ‘Gully God’ Mavado has been confirmed to perform at the event.

Jamzone NYC, which is slated for August 09, 2014 at The Village, Ralph Avenue, Brooklyn, is promised to be nothing less than adrenaline-charged and plans have definitely kick-started in this direction with the booking of Mavado!
The artist, whose real name is David Constantine Brooks, is no stranger to Jamzone and nor is he to Brooklyn so when those two are brought together, what do you get? The ultimate Brooklyn shutdown, Guyanese style!

Mavado over the years skyrocketed on charts across the Caribbean with hits like ‘So Special’, ‘Settle Down’, ‘Star Bwoy’, ‘Hope and Pray’, ‘Last Night’, ‘Pepper’, ‘Caribbean Girls’, ‘Mr. Tek Weh Yuh Gal’, ‘Delilah’, etc. Now U.S. based and signed with We the Best Music Group, Mavada was able to expand his fan base and released under this label ‘Emergency’ featuring Ace Hood and ‘Survivor’ featuring Akon. Other popular collaborations are ‘Give it all to me’ with Nicki Minaj and ‘Take it’ with Karian Sang.
