Known to be one of the Caribbean’s most adroit entertainers, Konshens is considered to be an unstoppable performer as this quality is paired with his astounding vocal flair leaving fans mesmerized long after he leaves the stage.
Konshens is one of the few artistes that have broken through the social strata, creating songs that explore and address a wide spectrum of issues including crime, discrimination, prejudice, poverty and political pandering. Of course, Konshens also explores the lighter side of living through his songs created just for dancing and romancing the ladies.

His 2005 single “Pon Di Corner” was a major hit in Japan, Juba, South Sudan and led to a month-long tour of the country and a Japan-only album release. His album, Real Talk, was released by Japanese label Koyashi in 2010. A second album was also announced to be released in Jamaica on Tad Dawkins’ Tad’s International label. Konshens also launched his own Subkonshus label in 2010, working with new acts including his brother Delus.
In May 2011, he was one of several high-profile Jamaican celebrities to take part in a march in Torrington Park calling for an end to political rivalry in the area, commemorating a fire in May 1980 at the Eventide Home which killed over 150 elderly women, for which politically motivated arson was suspected.

This artist’s ability to captivate his audience with heart-throbbing and nonstop-gyrating tunes makes him a sure pick for Jamzone Summer Break 2013 Regional Concert!

Being in its thirteenth year, Jamzone has grown from a simple one-day beach event to a ten-day affair with events ranging from the fanciest of Jazz Festivals to the biggest international concerts to the most attractive of sporting events.
From the time of Jamzone’s introduction in 2001 to the present, this event underwent several evolutionary stages but none was more significant than the facelift it received in 2009 when history was made in the local entertainment industry. Three consecutive days of Super Concerts were hosted at the Guyana National Stadium where the Caribbean’s most prolific artistes performed. Guyana partied non-stop for three full days!

As the years rolled on, International acts were added to the roster of activities, the first being R&B Singer/Songwriter Neyo! With this achievement, Hits and Jams never failed to fall from this dimension and has since brought to Guyana R&B Singer/Songwriter Trey Songz, Rapper/Songwriter Eve and Hip Hop Recording Artist Rick Ross.
This year we’re shooting further! We will maintain ten days of activities but the excitement will be intensified with new additions. Our string of events includes the now annual Jazz Night and Fashion Show, Kids Zone, the Miss Jamzone International Pageant, the Regional Night Concert and International Night Concert. Among initiatives added to this year’s schedule are a magnificent Ski Show, a Biker’s Fest event, Food/Local Night and a Football match between two big local teams.
Those who are anxious for our headlining acts to be revealed will have to wait a while longer as the Hits and Jams team is not quite ready to let the cat out the bag. However, it must be noted that the main act for this year’s International Night has been secured! As usual, patrons can look forward to a top class artiste who has stormed the music scene.

As it relates to the Regional Night Concert, partygoers can anticipate outstanding singers and musicians who are sure to bring that Caribbean flare to the table. With several acts booked for this event, it will be an evening of Soca, Dancehall, Reggae and Chutney sure to keep fans gyrating all through the night.
Jamzone Summer Break is an annual entertainment festival which is held in Guyana during the month of August. It has been accredited by the Ministry of Tourism as an annual calendar festival in Guyana which serves to provide both domestic and international tourists with wholesome entertainment during the local August holiday known internationally as the ‘Summer’ vacation.

Timeka Marshall and Busy Signal goes ‘Doggy Style’

Guyanese Songstress Timeka Marshall and Jamaican Dancehall Reggae artist Busy Signal are tearing up the charts with fresh out the oven ‘Doggy Style’!
Collaborating with the artistes to produce this mega tune was Major Lazer, a musical project by DJ/Producer Diplo. This particular mastermind has worked with the likes of Beyonce, J. Cole and No Doubt among others.

With hot, saucy lyrics combined with the sounds of the So Shifty Mix, Timeka and Busy Signal are sure to create havoc whether on the street corners, the clubs or live concerts.
The song had hit YouTube last week and generated quite a buzz as several persons took to their Facebook pages, reposting the audio and as observed, ‘Doggy Style’ has been getting nothing but great feedback. Fans have even been asking about the release of a video but this is yet to be determined.

The two got together in 2009 and produced ‘Feel Fah’ which rocked the charts. It is anticipated that ‘Doggy Style’ will outdo the previous collaboration.
Marshall had been busy in the studio during 2012 with productions such as ‘Kisses Softly’, ‘Come Over’ featuring Konshens and more recently ‘Undercover Lover’. She has come a long way and worked with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Beenie Man, Kes the Band and Peetah Morgan.
Meanwhile, Busy Signal’s album, Reggae Music Again, which was released in April 2012, was placed at number seven on Welcome to the top 25 albums of 2012, a chart compiled by music pundits at BBC Music. According to a release from the station, the table is based on votes from “a wide selection of BBC Music critics, DJs, and presenters from Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 1Xtra, 6 Music, BBC Scotland and BBC Ulster”.

Jamzone to explore N.Y.C., Miami, Canada and England!

Guyanese overseas and foreigners who have never gotten the opportunity to experience Jamzone may finally be able to do so as organizers are seriously looking at the prospects of taking Jamzone international!

Chief Executive Officers of local entertainment giant Hits and Jams, Rawle Ferguson and Kerwin Bollers, are currently in talks with promoters from New York City, Miami, Canada and England to take Guyana’s biggest event to these parts.

Of course, these will have to be hosted at different time periods throughout 2013 and our local supporters will not be disappointed as a result of this massive extension. Jamzone summer break will be hosted in Guyana during its usual dates with a full line up of great acts and events.
By taking the product outside the local market, Hits and Jams believe that our country will be promoted on a higher level and the goal of broadening the tourism arena will eventually be reached.

In the startup period of the business, the small team aimed to create a beach atmosphere and focused their energies on doing just that for their first attempt at Jamzone Summer Break in 2000.
Now, more than a decade later, Jamzone has moved from a simple one day beach affair to a week-long (and soon to be two week long) string of events, ranging from International Pageants to Jazz Festivals. International artistes have touched these shores to perform at concerts featured for Jamzone and today, Hits and Jams is highly recognized for the achievement of Jamzone.
