Movado meets face to face with Jory at Jamzone Regional Night

Local Dancehall star Jory, who has been dominating the airwaves with tracks from his recently released ‘Say what I want to say’ mixtape is already making preparations to put on a scorching show as he is dubbed the opening act for the Jamzone Regional Night which will be headlined by Jamaican Megastar ‘Movado’.

The lyricist has armed himself with several newly recorded tracks and advises patrons to anticipate a performance that may be considered one of his best. Jory recently completed a soon-to-be released ‘medley’ music video which includes several artistes including newcomers Jackie Hanover and Bliss.

This talented artist has also performed as the opening act for International and Regional Artistes world-wide including Hip-Hop artiste Akon, Dancehall and Reggae stars Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Konshens, Machel Montano, and soca sensations Alison Hinds and Shurwayne Winchester.
The Jamzone Regional night slated for August 21st will feature a diverse line-up of music and performances as acts such as renowned Chutney Crossover band Karma and Trinidad’s latest Soca Megastars J.W and Blaze are all included in the line-up.

General tickets for the Regional Show are $1500 and can be uplifted ONLY at Ashmins Trading located on High and Hadfield Streets. It’s back and bigger than before! The Jamzone Chutney Super concert is here once more ready to blaze with some of the most phenomenal chutney artistes from around the region.

This show headed for the Guyana National Stadium on Saturday August 15th, will kick off the host of events planned for this year’s Jamzone Summer Break Weekend including performances by Grammy-award winning R&B artiste Neyo and the acclaimed ‘Gully God’ Mavado.

Last year, fans from all corners of Guyana were treated to spectacular performances when Trinidadian Chutney Cross-over band ‘Karma’, along with the ‘More rum for me’ singer D’Hitman heated up the Guyana National Stadium at the first ever Jamzone Chutney Super concert.
The event dubbed the ‘Chutney Bacchanal’ featured supporting acts such as Kenneth Salick, Drupattie and Anil Singh. Approximately five thousand persons attended the concert which was quite significant for this premiere event.

Miss Jamzone 2010 kicks off with sizzling Swimsuit Segment

After several months of training and fervent preparations the delegates in the first ever Miss Jamzone International pageant are ready to kick start the competition this Sunday, August 15th.

The Princess Hotel and Casino’s Poolside will come alive as these eight exotic Caribbean beauties take the stage to display enticing swimsuits. Prestigious local and regional fashion designers will also display their fresh, hot summer clothing lines.
Guyana’s Soca sensation X2 who is famous for their high-energy, thrilling live shows is promising an exhilarating performance as they have been booked for the event.

Patrons will have the first chance to meet the contestants from Caribbean territories including Jamaica, Barbados, St. Lucia, Suriname, The Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Guyana.
This will be the first segment in this premier pageant, the second being the Intelligence Segment on August 18th and the finals billed for Sunday, August 22nd at the Splashmins Fun Park and Resort.

This year, the acclaimed Miss Jamzone Pageant will include regional delegates as a means of garnering support from our neighboring countries and sustaining integration within the region. Jamzone Summer Break Weekend 2010 has been dubbed the ‘Event of the year’ and moreover could be called the ‘premier event of the decade’. The Hits and Jams Team is currently engaged in fervent preparations to host the premiere Miss Jamzone pageant and several Super Concerts featuring some of the leading local, regional and international artistes including R&B singer, Neyo.

Last week the team released tickets for the Jamzone Chutney Super Concert, the Miss Jamzone Intelligence Segment and the Miss Jamzone Swimsuit Segment. However, tickets for the Jamzone Regional Night concert, the International Night concert and the Beach Jam and Pageant will go on sale immediately after the Miss Jamzone Swimsuit Segment which will be held on August 15th.

Neyo, Mavado for Jamzone Super concerts- Kerwin Bollers

The Road to the 10th  annual staging of the Jamzone Summer Break began on Friday Night at the Princess International Hotel with the official  announcement that international  artistes Neo  and  ever climbing Jamaican Dancehall artiste Mavado will be  among the mega headliners  for the 2010 event.

Bollers  sitting at the head table with sponsors such as Princess International Hotel, Digicel Guyana,  Ansa Mcal, Splashmins, and the Ministry of Tourism among others promised an exciting summer event  that surpasses all  other stagings  todate  with  a night when eleven international Chutney big names will invade Guyana  for a Jamzone chutney super concert at the National Stadium and if all goes well the Guyanese stars will have a night to shine in the spotlight.

We also hear that there are some plans for a food village if all goes well. the vents  will not all be   held  on consecutive days  but all told eight delegates drawn from from Antigua, Trinidad, Jamaica,  Barbados,  Dominica Republic, Suriname, St Lucia  and Guyana  will be contesting the coveted title of Miss Jamzone International and a first prize purse of US$10,000 cash.

Guyanese and tourists are promised at least a week of entertainment and leisure activities that will culminate with the crowning of the first ever Miss Jamzone international.

Miss Barbados for Jamzone International 2010 Pageant

Miss Barbados‘One’s character propels one beyond the walls of any limitations or challenges therefore I believe my intelligence, humility, determination coupled with my open mind will enable me to lucratively represent Barbados’.

An eloquent 19 year old humanitarian who ardently upholds solid morals and grabs every opportunity to motivate and elevate her fellow youths Miss Barbados Je-Meila Ramona Maloney stands proudly as her country’s ambassador in the Miss Jamzone International 2010 pageant.

Je-Meila is currently the Barbados Face of Shabeau Model Search winner and is attached to the Ebony Model agency also of Barbados. At the tender age of sixteen, Je-Meila joined forces with a friend and started a youth organization called the ‘Emerging Global Leaders of Barbados’, a youth organization that seeks to ’empower all young people so as to creatively shape a better tomorrow’.  She was sent by ‘UNICEF Barbados’ to Chitose City Japan to represent the entire Caribbean and Latin America at the J8 Summit in 2008 ,an annual forum where young people from around the world meet and discuss global issues, and share their solutions with G8 leaders and the world community.  There she was selected to meet the G8 Leaders of 2008 where she advocated for child rights and other global issues.  An avid youth leader this young lady is the current ‘UNICEF Barbados’ youth advocate and is a dedicated volunteer for the National Council on substance Abuse and United Caribbean Trust.

An aspiring lawyer Ms. Barbados hopes to own a law firm by age thirty and is working fervently towards achieving this goal. Remarkably, at 5ft 7inches Je-Meila bears a striking mannequin resemblance and explains that she enjoys singing, dancing, acting and writing poetry.

Miss Maloney assures the public that she confronts any challenge with poise, dignity and optimism and she is confident that the Miss Jamzone International crown is the exact fit for her head!

Guyana Miss Jamzone Representative to be chosen via Reality Show

Always armed with aims of creating the most remarkable events and consistently raising the bar the organizers of the renowned Jamzone events are once again launching an initiative that is set to break new grounds in Guyanese Entertainment. While the newly introduced Miss Jamzone International 2010 pageant will include delegates from several Caribbean countries the local representative will be selected by means of a reality show.

The participants will be shortlisted from successful applications and interviews and over a period of weeks they will have to complete various challenges that are aimed at testing their intellectual capacity, fashion and beauty senses, ability to function efficiently under pressure and their overall ability to represent Guyana on the International scene.
The reality show will be aired weekly and the general public can participate actively by voting for their favorite contestant via text messages.

Reality shows are the current craze in television broadcast and usually attract a large audience since they integrate real unscripted dramatic or humorous situations and feature ordinary people instead of professional actors.
The Miss Jamzone International show will be aired on Hits and Jams Television (HJTV) and the National Communication Network (NCN).Guyanese are advised to brace themselves since this year’s Miss Jamzone pageant is expected to be nothing short of remarkable.

Record number of tourists expected for Jamzone 2010!

The organizers of the Jamzone Summer Break and Beach Pageant are anticipating a record-setting influx of both domestic and international tourists for this year’s Jamzone events.
The Hits and Jams Entertainment team is very optimistic about the outcome of this year’s activities since the project will undergo major changes to create a more splendid experience.

“Last year approximately 50,000 persons attended the events over the four- day span however; we estimate a definite 60% increase in that statistic. Based on the convenient dates, hotels and airline representatives that have shown eager interest in Jamzone and the fact that delegates from around the Caribbean will be included in the Inaugural Miss Jamzone International Pageant we are confident that the amount of tourists will increase drastically”, said Hits and Jams Director Kerwin Bollers.

The event which took a new format last year provides local and international tourists with four days of super concerts which include some of the biggest names in the local and international music industry and the renowned beach party and pageant.

Jamzone goes International to celebrate its tenth anniversary set to commence on August 13th and concludes on August 22nd.

Hits and Jams Entertainment will be celebrating its tenth anniversary for “JAMZONE SUMMER BREAK”  this year and the promoters have already planned various activities that will be held to commemorate this special occasion.

Since 2001, when Guyana experienced the first Jamzone Summer Break, Hits and Jams has consistently maintained a very high standard and a level of professionalism and this year will not differ as the team ventures to raise the bar with an unsurpassable level of entertainment and leisure aimed at attracting both local and international tourists and sustaining their ardent contributions to the tourism industry.

In 2009, Jamzone was transformed into an inaugural four days event which featured several super concerts and the renowned Miss Jamzone Pageant and Beach Jam held at the Splashmins Fun Park and Resort. However, this year will see major changes as the pageant will feature delegates from around the Caribbean including Guyana who will vie for the coveted crown and top prize of US$10,000, runner ups will also benefit from prizes valued at US $15,000.
