  1. These Miss Guyana pageants are a waste of time. The prizes are not even better than Miss Jamzone isn't that a shame? What becomes of these young women after they have won? Nothing. Give these women a scholarship and let them shine for Guyana always. Unless they marry a white man like one lucky queen J

  2. What do I Think? We all know that it was said that Candace was too young to represent us at the world title yet she did, and quite a good job must I say! Christa has an iota of experience when it comes to pageants and I know that she too will represent us well. I love and follow pageants , however she was selected I know that she was the most fitting person at the moment. I'm supporting her, she has four crowns in the period of two years; Miss Bartica Regatta, Miss Jamzone, Miss Tourism Queen International and currently Miss Guyana World. She is going places and I wish her all the best and hope to do the same yo upcoming Queens from Guyana.

  3. yes i agree christal have tha experience but thats all she has nothing else. she dont carry her self as a queen and i dont think looks internatioal in terms of face, looks and personality

  4. I agree with Bonica. Sadlly, I don't think she is miss world material.Last yr queen was disappointing, both the 1st and 2nd runner up were better alternates yet they always seem to send the girl who is more brainy (irregardless of her looks which is usually limited). Guyana has a lot of exotic ladies, unfortunately we don't see them in pageants.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that we could stupid gals, but the reality is that beauty trumps brain at these contest, after all it is a beauty contest.

  5. I would agree with most of the comments in this site, for me as a pageant coach I dont't feel that we are taking pageants seriously and realising the repucusions of some actions when a selection of this sort is done, not taking into consideration that the world is watching and base on our representation so are we judge as a nation. Now Christa the person is very calm, approachable, well mannered and pleasant, that could represent well at a local pageant such as Jamzone, Bartica Regatta and a Miss Georgetown to name a few but a major event such as Miss World and Universe she is not the type of material we should send to represent our country. However it is no fault of Ms Simmons it is the blatant disrespect of the franchise holder Mr. Ken Chung, he is careless and tacky when it comes to the monies of our sponsors. I think persons should stop supporting his venture, to the local directors "Do not allow Mr. Chung to suck you into such arrangement, you are too nice a person to allow that. I know that you want to be recognised for your work in pageants because you have beautiful wives. You should find another franchise holder in the likes of Ms Pamela Dillon who is an excellent co-ordinator. However I want to wish the Ms Simmons all the best at Miss World where ever it is held this year.

  6. All I can say is "time". Time to prepare, time to look back at our mistakes and correct and time to develop
our queens physically, emotionally, and physcologically. You can't pick a girl in one month's time, send her abroad and
expect her to win anything. If we look at the women who are winning pageants today, we'll see that these women and their
countries are spending time on them. These girls work hard, its not an easy job and when the ladies do leave to represent
their country half of Guyana is negative and are critising the young lady. I honestly don't think that Christa can do it.
I didn't beleive Candace could have done anything as well because time and effort was not spent on selecting the young lady
and developing the young lady. If we want to begin seeing results from beauty pageants once again, we need to prvide
the ladies with the resources and support and as I've been saying all the time spent time on her.

  7. well i think Guyana has beautiful women but what we the officals are lacking in is grooming and preparing a delegate to represent us internationally, look at Venezuela ! evrytime gorgeous ! we should have a beauty school and train young girls to model, speech, confidence, dental care, diet and nutrition,we need to learn from our mistakes and be better each year but this is so not happening,I remember at ms Universe 2007 ms Melissa payne was the ugliest delegate there OMg Tanzinia looked better with her bald shaved head ! we need to train aspiring women for an international Pageant for at least six months ! you cannot recruit delegates and train them for 2 weeks, have a pageant and send them abroad ! we are only wasting time !… anwyay Christa best of luck in south Africa.. stay slim and make Guyana proud !

  8. I have seen the "crap" that was designed as our National Costume" at the Miss World Pageants, I believe that the Designer hates women. Why aren't we utlizing Burrowes School of Art students to design the costumes. We need well rounded contestants, with the "WOW" factor. I think that Olive Gopaul was the only "WOW" we have had in recent times. Liz please note that I believe that Ms. Payne is a Beautiful Black woman, she may not be as Photogenic but her skin is smooth and flawless… It sees like you are hung up on ethnicity ..what a shame.

  9. yes we have chosen someone to represent us at the miss world pageant and she has 4 crowns to her name but wat about her morale and character is she a proper example of a Guyanese woman ……is she married? shes been seen with a fella with a ring on his supposedly married finger is that the kinda woman we want to represent Guyana no wonder we are moving backward but then again that is the kind of girl we have to represent us wat a shame
